Honeysuckle shows up in a lot of skincare marketing as a pretty word on a label. In Renelle Skincare™ formulas, it shows up because of what it actually does, and because we can tell you exactly what it is.

What It Actually Is

The honeysuckle floral water we use is listed on our labels by its correct INCI name, Lonicera Caprifolium Flower Water. It is a gentle hydrosol, the water that carries over during steam distillation of the flower, rather than an extract or an essential oil. That distinction matters. Hydrosols are more dilute and far gentler than essential oils, which makes them a good fit for a line built around calming skin rather than challenging it.

Ingredient Spotlight

Lonicera Caprifolium Flower Water is steam-distilled from honeysuckle blossoms. It carries a soft, sweet floral scent naturally, without any added fragrance, and is used in our formulas at concentrations low enough to support skin without overwhelming it.

Why It Earns Its Place

We do not add floral waters for scent alone. Honeysuckle floral water contributes a light, natural fragrance note while also carrying moisture into a formula, which is exactly the kind of dual-purpose ingredient we look for. If an ingredient is only there to smell nice, it does not make it into a Renelle Skincare™ formula. Every floral water we use has to support the goal of bringing skin back to baseline, not distract from it.

The Honest Part

Like most natural floral waters, honeysuckle floral water carries trace naturally occurring fragrance allergens common to the plant itself. This is normal and expected of any botanical ingredient, natural or synthetic. Under Health Canada's cosmetic labelling requirements, ingredients like this are disclosed transparently on our packaging once they cross the applicable threshold. We would rather tell you that upfront than have you discover it by reading a label we hoped you would not look at too closely.

If an ingredient is only there to smell nice, it does not make it into a Renelle Skincare formula.

Where You Will Find It

Honeysuckle floral water appears in select formulas within our DSMO line, alongside chamomile and lavender floral waters, each chosen for a slightly different balance of scent and skin feel. None of them are there to cover anything up. They are there because a good formula, like a good routine, should feel calm from the first ingredient to the last.
